We aspire to provide ‘art’ as a form of healing, uniting, and empowering in our community. We think of art in a very holistic way; painting, fashion, interior design, handcrafted jewelry, meditation, yoga, sculpting, dancing, singing, cooking, etc… the list of what classifies ‘art’ is limitless. We are passionate about providing our community with the same wholeness that we receive daily from the pursuit of our creative passions. We believe that art creates a life infused with a divine sense of self-purpose, positive health, happiness and harmony. We have curated 70+ local, extremely talented, and philanthropic artists (rebels) who believe in our mission, and seek to expand and align with creatives who share the same ambitions. We plan to grow our organization’s influence by producing quality events and charitable workshops, fundraising to help our local communities, and supporting our network of rebel professionals. No matter what artistic medium you explore – you can become a ‘Rebel With A Cause’ and join our movement of peer support, connection and giving back.
Jewelry designer, Emily Elizabeth and interior designer, Sam Shakura combined creative and spiritual forces to create ‘Rebel With A Cause’, a non-profit, charitable organization of British Columbia based artists, designers, creators and avant-garde entrepreneurs wanting to make a difference and share their gifts with those less fortunate. Through their deep friendship and respect for each other’s creative talents, Sam & Emily bonded and knew they had to conceptualize a profound way to unite their creative community and give back through art. They held their first fundraising event in December of 2017, a charity art auction in collaboration with Third Space Life Charity, and raised an outstanding $50,000 for the Rebel movement. The Rebel team is very excited to invest these efforts straight back into the local community through various art endeavours, sponsorships, scholarships and ‘life-inspiration’ opportunities. We aim to help others confidently express their voice, learn to have fun and play with creativity, add some sparkle into daily life, encourage engagement, awareness and communal respect, and ultimately, provide authentic artistic experiences that make other’s souls smile.
Our first year Rebel ‘cause’ is focused on providing several local charitable organizations and shelters free-to-attend creative workshops in the Summer of 2018, and the opportunity to turn these creative teachings into an avenue of affluence and abundance in our late Summer of 2018 art market. To kick off our first series of workshops, we are thrilled to be working alongside Karis Society, Mamas For Mamas, and of course Third Space Life Charity! In the future, we intend to broaden the horizons of how we can help others, with avenues such as scholarships for art education, ‘art for healing’ summer camps and festivals, and events like markets and art shows to support our progressive, professional artists.
